Furthermore, SMA can be applied easily and quickly in thin layers, thus contributing to the high cost efficiency of this architecture. Optimum results are obtained by application of a high bitumen content, stabilised with TECHNOCEL-fibers or TOPCEL-fiber pellets with added high quality mineral aggregates. This combination can extend the service life considerably. As a consequence the costs will be reduced not only short-term but also in the long run. Applications are manifold:
Asphalt Concrete Asphalt concrete is the widest spread architecture for pavements world-wide. Application of TECHNOCEL and TOPCEL will improve the deformation resistance and extend the service life of such pavements considerably. Applications:
Porous Asphalt The specific function of this asphalt pavement leads to noise reduction and the - as is well-known - safety improving drainage effect, which provides the quick de-watering of the road surface. The system is based on a high content of aggregate with little sand and filler. As a result of the distribution of mineral aggregate there are interconnected hollow spaces, the size of which may amount to between 15 and well above 20 vol-% - depending on the desired performance. TECHNOCEL and TOPCEL fix the binder to the aggregate's surface and thereby prevent de-mixing during transportation and laying, thus - and combined with a highest possible binder content in the mixture - extending the porous asphalt's service life considerably. Applications:
Highly deformation resistant Binders Conventional binder layers without TECHNOCEL or TOPCEL often participate in the deformation of a bituminous pavement. The tensions causing a.o. the plastical deformation reach a maximum in their subsurface. In order to increase the deformation resistance deformation resistant binders were designed, to which TECHNOCEL or TOPCEL is added for stabilising reasons. The mix of high aggregate and low mortar content is specially designed for highly trafficked roads: Applications:
